COVID-19: CO2 Cleaning and Decontaminating Solutions

Cool Clean Technologies USA specializes in CO2 cleaning, extraction, and decontamination processes for various industries For example, our CO2 technology and dry ice blasting solutions are enabling our customers to clean surfaces and removes residues very quickly, while also decontaminating surfaces.

Key applications for this technology include all types of molds and dies (injection, extrusion, thermoform, etc.), medical devices and implants, food & beverage equipment, and other essential business, such as public transportation. Let Cool Clean help your business get back on track to providing a safe and clean environment for your employees and customers.

Medical Devices

The Medical Device and Pharmaceutical community are producing medical devices and vital pharmaceuticals to combat the changing landscape. Medical devices today are smaller and more precise, requiring more advanced cleaning or extraction processes. CO2 cleaning removes residues and contamination in a quick manner. Medical facilities with equipment performing molding and parts finishing can be cleaned with less downtime Machines are cleaned in-place, preventing minimal shutdown. Let us help alleviate your cleanliness concerns with our CO2 cleaning solutions. Reach a salesperson today!

Our equipment is being reformatted to clean N95 masks. Over the past month, Cool Clean has been partnering with a national team in the USA to help optimize their Enertia™ liquid CO2 process for the purpose of cleaning N95 respirator masks, so they can be reused safely.

Plastics Molding, Deflashing and Deburring

Dry Ice blasting replaces tedious, manual cleaning and deburring processes. Plastic deburring using Cool Clean CO2 technology cleans and deburrs various parts and geometries. Burr removal using CO2 blasting compliments in-process or post-process deflashing and deburring of plastic machined and molded parts, such as PEEK, nylon, ABS, etc. The process uses our high energy nozzle (HEN) to create a focused, powerful spray of CO2 particles blasted at the part, swiftly removing the tiny hairs, or burrs from the component. CO2 blasting can be completely automated to ensure consistent burr elimination. The equipment is harmless to employees and is environmentally safe.

Cool Clean COOLMASTER : Dry Ice Blasting

Dry ice blasting, otherwise known as dry ice cleaning, is a more aggressive form of precision cleaning using dry ice pellets instead of CO2 snow. The latest in dry ice blasting technology, the COOLMASTER by Cool Clean Technologies was developed with the aim of permanently changing the cleaning industry. The COOLMASTER is a product which sets new cleaning standards in all industries.

The COOLMASTER starts where other cleaning methods and devices reach their limits. Unbeatable for flexibility and range of application, the COOLMASTER is perfect for removing contaminants in all sectors. Particles of various sizes, surfaces and degrees of soiling are cleaned efficiently and powerfully, yet gentle to the material with the COOLMASTER.

The COOLMASTER saves resources and is less time consuming than traditional cleaning methods. The COOLMASTER reduces the downtime of machines, as they often do not need to be dismantled, and can be cleaned right in place. The COOLMASTER sets itself apart with its ergonomic, modern design and provides the new standard in quality and performance, while improving economic efficiency!

Waterless Cleaning and Surface Pre-treatment for Parts Prior to Painting

Cleaning and surface preparation prior to painting, coating, varnishing, bonding and welding is of critical importance in a wide range of industries. Manufacturers have unwanted contaminants on the surface of the part that must be removed prior to painting, coating and varnishing. Common surface preparation defects include dust, residues, particles, mold release agents, and other contaminants. The traditional surface pre-treatment process technologies are aqueous-based cleaning, manual solvent hand wipe operations, and air blow systems.

Aqueous-based cleaning systems require a large footprint and large quantities of water and detergents, while requiring a large electric energy demand and wastewater handling system. Manual hand wipe systems demand a trained workforce using solvent dipped rags which yields inconsistent cleaning results. Air blow systems do not have the cleaning force to remove heavier dusts and contaminants from the surface, affecting the bond adhesion.

CO2 spray cleaning systems provide cost effective no-touch cleaning technology that can be dropped into many production lines with a fraction of the footprint. Because the primary cleaning agent is solid CO2 particles, or snow, which sublimes upon contact with the surface, there is no cleaning agent residues to manage. The cleaning spray can be combined with an integrated solvent injection to modify the chemistry of the cleaning spray. CO2 spray used in conjunction with atmospheric plasma and ionized air de-static systems can provide additional surface preparation capability.

CO2 is non-abrasive, won’t cause any damage to the surface, and is a green alternative that is safe for workers. Cool Clean’s CO2 spray cleaning systems are being implemented as an automated tool that integrates into the specific line, requiring no loss of production and improves on efficiency. This waterless cleaning process requires no post drying after the cleaning stage, allowing parts to move directly to a painting/coating step. A multiple nozzle CO2 spray works seamlessly with existing robotics providing complete coverage of the part, ensuring a high quality clean finish.
